5 x 7 blank notecard with envelope.
Given to The Huntington Library in memory of Ruth C. Greenburg, this wonderful addition to our collection can now be shared with you and yours, albeit in a much smaller dimension. Constructed in 1998 out of the finest walnut and ebony, Maloof designed a sleek and simple rocking chair for the sake of both posture and posterity.
Backside of the card features the following quote:
“Once you have breathed, smelled, and tasted the tanginess of wood and handled it in the process of giving it form, there is nothing, I believe, that can replace the complete satisfaction gained. Working a rough piece of wood into a complete useful object is welding together a man and material.”
– Sam Maloof
